Counselling for Trainee Therapists at Male Minds Counselling

Counselling for Trainee Therapists at Male Minds Counselling

Are you training to become a qualified counsellor and looking for affordable online or face to face therapy? At Male Minds Counselling, I offer counselling for trainee therapists who want a supportive space to understand themselves, process their experiences, and complete their required personal therapy hours.

My name is Cassim, and I believe personal therapy is one of the most important parts of becoming a counsellor.

Training to become a therapist is not just academic. It is emotional, psychological, and deeply personal. Many counselling courses are demanding enough to earn the nickname “the divorce course” because of how much they can disrupt, challenge, and change people’s lives. Counselling training often pushes you to reflect on your relationships, identity, childhood experiences, emotional patterns, and the ways you cope with stress and conflict.

To sit with a client’s pain without becoming overwhelmed by it, you need to understand your own emotional world. To support somebody through trauma, grief, shame, anger, or anxiety without trying to rescue them, you need to have explored your own reactions and vulnerabilities. Personal therapy helps trainee counsellors build emotional awareness, resilience, and the ability to remain present with clients.

Affordable Counselling for Trainee Counsellors

I understand how financially difficult counselling training can be. Many trainees are balancing course fees, supervision costs, placement work, assignments, employment, and family responsibilities all at the same time. Some students are also navigating childcare, relationship pressures, or reduced working hours while training.

That is why I offer concessionary rates for trainee counsellors and students.

Whether you need to complete 60 personal counselling hours, meet course requirements, or simply want a supportive therapeutic relationship during your training journey, I aim to provide affordable counselling that feels accessible and grounded.

Sessions are available online across the UK and face to face depending on location and availability.

Why Personal Therapy Matters During Counselling Training

Being in therapy while training helps counsellors understand what it feels like to sit in the client chair. It teaches patience, emotional regulation, and the importance of feeling heard rather than “fixed.”

Therapy can also help trainee therapists:

  • Understand triggers, blind spots, and emotional reactions
  • Develop stronger self awareness
  • Explore unresolved trauma or difficult experiences
  • Manage stress, burnout, and anxiety
  • Build confidence in placement work
  • Reflect on relationships and attachment patterns
  • Learn how to sit with ambiguity and uncertainty
  • Separate personal issues from client work

Counselling training often surfaces emotions or experiences that have been buried for years. Academic pressure, client work, supervision, and personal responsibilities can all collide at once. Having your own therapeutic space can provide stability and support during this process.

Therapy for Trainee Counsellors Who Want to Grow Personally and Professionally

I enjoy working with counselling students because the work often operates on many levels. Alongside the personal work, there is usually reflection around identity, theory, boundaries, self awareness, and what kind of counsellor you are becoming.

As therapists, we are constantly developing. Personal therapy is not about becoming perfect. It is about learning to understand yourself more honestly so you can be more present and authentic with clients.

I believe that good therapists are willing to look inward. They are willing to explore difficult emotions rather than avoid them. They learn how to sit with pain, uncertainty, shame, grief, anger, and vulnerability without immediately trying to escape or control those feelings.

That process begins with personal therapy.
